Glorious summer weather is just on the horizon. Take advantage of the clear skies and warm temps while staying active. Here are a few fun activities that will help get you out of the house and keep you moving.

Hit the Beach

If you live near the beach, take full advantage of your amazing location. You can take a walk along the water, play beach volley ball, swim, and a million other fun things. If you don’t live near the beach, there’s no better time than the present to plan a trip!

Head to the Park

The park can be a really great place to get out and play during the summer. Also, it’s free! Pack a lunch and have a picnic. If you have little kids, watch them have a blast on the playground. If your family is older, engage in a little friendly competition. You can organize soccer, baseball, kickball, volleyball, Frisbee or any number of other games. Additionally, most public parks have places to grill. Break up the sporting events by having a cookout. You’d be surprised how fun a day at the park can be when you’re spending time with the people you love.

Play Tourist

Often times we live in a city for years but don’t actually take time to explore it. Get out of the house and visit your town’s main attractions. Walk around, try new restaurants, check out local stores, museums, etc. Pretend you’re a tourist and have a blast getting to know more about where you live.

Pool Day

Swimming is a great way to stay active in the summer. When the weather gets hot, it can be difficult to want to stay outside for long periods of time. However, swimming is the perfect way to combat the heat! As long as you stay hydrated and continue to apply sunscreen, you can be at the pool for hours. Whether you have a pool or head down to your local rec center, this family friendly activity is a great way to spend your summer.

Take a Hike

Hiking is a great way to kill two birds with one stone. It allows you to get outside into the fresh air while also treating you to incredible views. An article written by Jennifer Sansone for kurbo.com elaborates further by saying, “With nice weather, a hike in the mountains or in the woods can be a perfect way to get some exercise AND get in some quality family time. Look online to find some good hiking spots in your area, and plan a trip!” Luckily for you, this big beautiful Earth has no shortage of breathtaking sights. No matter where you live, you should have no problem finding an incredible hike.

Don’t let the heat keep you inside the house. It’s important to keep moving and stay active. Use these suggestions to help you and your family get outside this summer. You’ll be glad you did!
