It can be hard to commit to a drastic lifestyle change.  While going clean and green is all the rage, it can be very overwhelming to overhaul your life in one swoop.  Make it a little easier on yourself by adjusting your practices gradually.  You’ll have a better chance of sticking to your goals and find ways to incorporate these easy daily practices into your life.  Start small and you’ll win big.

Foraging the Fridge

Take a good look what’s in your refrigerator and pantry.  While processed foods can be yummy, try not to keep these products in stock on a regular basis.  They are fine for an occasional splurge but try to keep fresh healthy options in stock and on hand so when you are craving a snack, you won’t even be tempted by the unhealthy stuff.

Cleaning Products, Scrub Brushes and Bottles, oh my!

What’s living under your sink and storage cabinets?  You probably only use one or two go-to cleaning products and the rest just sit there gathering dust.  Do an inventory of what you need and how often you use these products.  Are there cleaning products that can pull double duty?  Hang on to those and simplify your cleaning arsenal.  Look up simple DIY cleaning solutions using safe natural ingredients.  Everybody wins – you and the environment.

Your Closet

You knew this one was coming.  Give your closet a refresh and clean it out.  When was the last time you wore that shirt?  Stop saving skinny clothes just in case.  You want to strive to be happy and healthy with yourself in the now.  Stop allowing space to be taken up by unnecessary things that serve you no purpose.  If getting rid of things is hard, do a clean out of your closet and vacuum seal those items into a space saving bag with an expiration date.  When that date comes around – pull all the clothes out and reassess what is in there.  You probably will have forgotten you own those pair of shorty shorts you wore junior year of college.

The Bathroom Void

Everyone has old makeup products, hair tonics and other unwanted beauty trends living in their bathroom taking up space.  Get your schedule down to a science and toss anything else that you don’t need.  You want to surround yourself with products you love and make you feel great.  You could even make this commitment with your friends, gather up all your unwanted items and have a product party – that bronzer might not work on you, but works wonders on Sally.

Going clean with what you put in your body and what you surround your body with can be a difficult transition for anyone.  You are more likely to stick to your plan if you go gradually and not overwhelm yourself.  Go slowly and use some or all of these to get you started on your way.

Are You the Winner?
