It’s no secret that daily exercise is an excellent tool for soothing your anxious feelings. Not only will it help combat stress, it helps you release stored adrenaline that could be wreaking havoc on your body. All of that adrenaline presents itself as anxiety. Exercising will help you sleep better, clear your mind, focus and improve your mood. So, if you want to lower the number of anxious feelings you have throughout the day, make it a priority to exercise daily.
Talk to a Professional
Therapy is an incredible tool that should always be utilized when possible. Talking to a non-biased individual who can listen effectively while giving support and advice is invaluable. These experienced professionals are trained to be an asset to you as you work through your mental health issues. Don’t be afraid to hop around until you find someone that is a good fit for you. Clean Up your Space
There is a direct link to clutter and anxiety. If you find yourself living in a chaotic, messy environment, chances are it’s negatively affecting your mental health. Start by getting organized. Make a list of everything you need to get done. Break each task up into smaller tasks so you can check things off frequently. This will help you feel productive and motivate you to continue. If you can’t tackle a big project- that’s okay! Even small steps everyday will keep moving you forward. Do what you can!
Cut Out Caffeine
This might not be a popular tip, but it’s helpful nonetheless. An article written by Jenna Jones for edensgarden.com explains why it might be in your best interest to cut out caffeine. She writes, “Do you rely on coffee to shake the mental cobwebs in the morning? Have a Coke with your lunch? If so, it may be time to cut them out of your life, particularly if you already struggle with anxiety. Caffeine is a stimulant that has links with elevated heart rates and adrenaline release, both of which contribute to anxiety. A 2010 study discovered that, “High doses of caffeine can induce psychotic and manic symptoms, and more commonly, anxiety. Patients with panic disorder and performance social anxiety disorder seem to be particularly sensitive to the anxiogenic effects of caffeine.” Similarly, regular caffeine ingestion can cause symptoms that overlap with an anxiety attack, sleep disorders or panic attacks.”
